There was this quote –

If an egg is broken by an outside force, life ends.

If broken by an inside force, life begins.

1st July 2008 marks the beginning of my new life in the servant leadership chain.

After 4 years of speech delivery, competent leadership’s role, along with supper along the journey. Finally!  I am being elected as the president of Sandakan Toastmasters Club for 2012/2013 (along with the expanded waistline).

Before I go into my presidential story. Allow me to share with you, my journey in Toastmaster.

It was a fine day, a university mate of mine, Joe Pan rang me up & invited me to the Sandakan Toastmasters club’s training meeting. He told me that he would be there too and we have agreed to meet up at the venue. I waited for 10 minutes, then 20 minutes and the meeting eventually started without him. I was nervous (after the meeting has started for about 15 minutes). So, I texted him to check on his whereabout and his answer was “Sorry bro, I got things to do I’ll see you next at the next meeting” I was like, WHAT! (in my mind)!

It was the members’ friendliness, the warmth atmosphere & the support that I’ve gathered during the 1st training meeting kept me seat through the night.

I still remembered vividly the night I hand in my membership application form, a lady walked up to me and offer herself to become my mentor. Since then, my life has never been this excited in delivering speeches and serving as an active member of the club and the rest as they put it, is history. That mentor is, Datin Grace Chiu.

Along the journey, I have continued to meet more inspiring leaders and mentors from this organization. In my humble opinion, I would suggest that you too should get a mentor in your life IF you think your life is dull, or join one of the nearest Toastmasters clubs today!

Below are the pictures that were taken from the Annual General Meeting (AGM) where I was elected as the next president of the club. Enjoy.

The tagline for my term (July 2012 – June 2013) is: “Friends Helping Friends to Succeed” – It was a tagline used by one of the Past International President of Toastmasters International. The Toastmasters program will only be remained as strong as its members, as they work together to help build each other up – a better person.

Till then, Have A Good Day Everyone!
